Tonight, at dusk
my daughter & I went walking on our trail system. We stopped to visit to the community gardens behind Meadow Hills Jr. High. This place is fantastic! If you've never gone in and checked it out I highly recommend it. Usually when I walk by there is no one occupying it, but tonight there were several couples harvesting their tomatoes. Even a few tweens with their parents, impressively. The kids were excited to tell me about how they started the garden with their Jr. High & the flagship program MUD (Missoula Urban Development). This place really inspired me. It also got me thinking that the South Hills could probably sustain it's own community market. The green space surrounding the gardens struck me as the perfect spot actually. It's just off the footpath and there's lots of parking at the Jr. High. Looks like I will be attending my first neighborhood council meeting to look into the possibilities... and have my free slice of pizza.
